Here at Thirsty Dog we start with the freshest ingredients and proven award winning recipes to hand craft each beer.

To help you understand how we do it, the following is a walk through the process:

  1. The Mill: Malt is cracked in a roll mill to expose the starchy endosperm while preserving the husks.
  2. The Malt is then precisely weighed to recipe requirements.
  3. Mash Tun. Malt and water are then mixed at specific ratio and temperature. This mashing converts malt starch to sugars.
  4. Brew Kettle: The sugar created in the Mash Tun is drawn to the brew kettle in a liquid called wort. Hops are then added in the Kettle producing the bitterness and flavors depending on the recipe.
  5. Heat Exchange: The hopped wort is then cooled from boiling to the desired fermentation temperature generating hot water for future use.
  6. Fermentors: Wort is transferred to fermentation tanks where yeast will consume the sugars in the sweet wort creating alcohol and CO2.
  7. Bright tanks: After fermentation occurs the beer is transferred to a bright tank for further filtering and possible aging prior to final filtration and bottling or kegging.
